You’ve probably heard of Hot Girl Summer which started back in 2019 when Megan Thee Stallion tweeted: ‘Being a Hot Girl is about being unapologetically YOU, having fun, being confident, living your truth, being the life of the party, etc.’ From then on, this Tweet changed the female mindset and created the ever-so-needed Hot Girl Summer.
But, it’s been a few years and us girls are ready to shake it up. So, have you heard of Feral Girl Summer?
It’s 2022’s unofficial theme that encourages girls to embrace their most hot, messy, Serena van der Woodsen self. We’re not saying no to drinks, even if it’s a Tuesday night. We’re showing up to brunch in last night’s hair and makeup. Hell, we might still be a little drunk. We’re flirting with every hot guy in the bar. We swear fluently, but we’re still sexy and playful. We’re manifesting Summer ’16 vibes. So, get ready because this summer, we’re going feral.
Here’s how you can live your most Feral Girl Summer:
My body is a temple Monday-Thursday (unless I’ve went to the gym, in which case I’ve earned myself a drink)-
Feral Girls are eating clean during the week. No McChickens, McFries or McCokes. We’re going to the gym a minimum of four to five times a week, maybe even hitting a hungover Saturday morning workout. But on the weekends, we’re either on the boat, by the pool or in the sun double fisting White Claws like they’re water.
Us Feral Girls will never wake up at 5 a.m. to drink green juices, run 3 miles, clean the house, and complete our laundry before 8:00 a.m. We’re more of the we’ll be at the gym by 9:00 a.m., hungover, but drinking a Monster (zero sugar) energy drink to make us feel like less of a trash goblin.
Embracing the fact that maybe we’re a little unhinged-
I don’t want to say that Feral Girl Summer is an excuse to act completely unhinged, but we’re going to be a little bit unhinged, but you know… like in a cute, Feral Girl way. We always have a drink in hand at the bar, drinking water is a tomorrow problem, dancing and singing karaoke are completely acceptable forms of cardio, and we have no qualms about taking selfies in the bathroom despite the line for it being extremely long. Shout out to The Ridge!
We’re wearing the damn crop top-
Feral Girls are reclaiming the idea that summer is a time for women to be ‘bikini ready’. Feral Girls don’t care if our bodies have a couple extra pounds here or there because we know that we’re still going to look good as hell.
As a Feral Girl, she’s going to wear the bikini and the damn crop top, but there’s also a good chance she hasn’t shaved her legs in about a week.
Feral is wild and hot.
This summer, we don’t care. We’re undone, wild and free. I don’t know about you, but the Feral Girl mentality is the only mentality I’ll be having this summer because life is too short to care too much.
And remember, there’s nothing a little dry shampoo and bronzer can’t fix.
